How Have You Challenged Yourself?
We were not created to sit on a couch. We were created for physical and spiritual adventure! We live in a day and age where we prioritize convenience and comfort, and yet, God does most of his work through hardship and trial. Greater Heights was established to remind us that we have been created and equipped to do hard things...and it is in those hard moments that our lives are forever changed.
James 1:2-4 - My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you will be perfect and complete, not deficient in anything.
The Sawatch Mountain Range of Colorado serves as the proving ground to test our physical and spiritual endurance.
Each July a new Greater Heights group ventures into high elevation to tackle their first 14,000 ft. mountain. An entire week is given to adventuring the heights of Colorado with the culmination being climbing Mt. Elbert (the second highest peak in the lower 48 states.)
Why are Greater Heights Trips Life-Changing?

We get really used to doing what we prefer and what we are comfortable doing. If we never choose to escape those conveniences we are less likely to grow in our spiritual life.

A Greater Heights Trip allows you the privilege of suffering with others
Suffering has a unique way of binding people together. God has not called us to live out our Christian faith by ourselves. We are to bear one another's burdens. We can only learn to do this as we share in suffering.

A Greater Heights Trip helps you hear God in the beauty of His creation
There is a reason why we are told in the Bible "Be still and I know that I am God." It becomes difficult to hear God in the clamor and busyness of everyday life. It is often only in moments of silence that we can begin to hear God clearly again.

A Greater Heights Trip reminds you that you are capable of doing more than you believe you can in the power of the LORD.
Abram, Moses, Gideon, and Peter are just a few of God's servants that had to learn that they could do a lot more than they thought they could do, and it all started with absolute faith in the One who called them. Too often we don't attempt hard things because we don't believe God will help us.
Psalm 90:2 - Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
